Irish girl gives her mammy a quacking surprise by dressing as a duck in viral homecoming video

IRISH emigrant children arriving home to unsuspecting family members and videoing their reaction is a fairly common occurrence nowadays, but one Waterford girl gets a gold star for originality.

Triona Fitzgerald had been living and working in New York for over a year when she decided to move home earlier this week - unbeknownst to her mammy.

The 24 year old started filming her journey, which has since gone viral, in JFK Airport in New York until, getting closer to home, she dons a duck head mask and proceeds to stand outside her mother's kitchen window in order to surprise her.

Once her mother sees the duck in the garden, she asks "Who is it? Jim?" After quacking in response, Triona pulls off her mask to reveal she has come home. In typical Irish mammy style, her mother says, "Oh for goodness sake, where did you come from?"

While her mother's reaction was video-worthy in itself, Triona will definitely be remembered for her innovative homecoming outfit.

A little surprise ☘
