Saucy new Irish Farmer Calendar shows Ireland's men are cream of the crop

IT'S that time of the year again - the Irish Farmer Calendar 2017 is here.

Now in its eighth year, the successful calendar is back featuring more of Ireland's finest farmers in all their agricultural glory.

Creator Ciara Ryan says that interest in this year's calendar is "far exceeding" previous years and the feedback has been tremendous.

Orders have already ben coming in, with the first order from the US.

Shot by Ian Shipley, the Dublin photographer described the farmers as brilliant to work with.

"All the lads were brilliant," he said,"and managed to keep smiling despite being a bit cold minus their shirts."

This year's calendar features bovine co-stars, affectionate goats, a dramatic superhero rescue on hay bales, a ginger piglet and a skipping rope with a very happy farm dog.

Earlier this year, the calendar concept was turned also into a book, Irish Farmers

“The book features rough and ready farmers with no tan, no make-up and no photoshop," Ms Ryan said. "The farmers are all very natural."

For the first time, the calendar and book will now be available in British Calendar Club stores.

"We're hoping both will be seen by a wider audience and people get a good laugh out of both," Ms Ryan said. "Irish farmers sure know how to have the craic."

The calendar costs €10.99 and proceeds go to Irish charity Bothár, which enables communities worldwide to overcome hunger by sending livestock to the developing world.

Last year the calendar went straight up the calendar charts to the number one spot beating One Direction.

And by the look of this year's featured farmers, they may be getting top spot yet again.
