WATCH: Incredible moment huge bird of prey 'plucks shark from ocean' and carries it over beach-goers

HOLY CARP.

There were incredible scenes on a South Carolina beach yesterday as an eagle-eyed bird watcher spotted a winged predator plucking its lunch from the ocean.

In what looks like something out of a Sharknado movie, an enormous bird can be seen soaring through the sky over unsuspecting beach-goers carrying what seems to be a shark in its mighty talons.

The video was captured on Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, and shows a huge bird of prey, which some viewers have identified as an Osprey, carrying the fish back to its nest.

Within minutes of being uploaded onto the internet, the video went viral, and the SYFY TV network, responsible for the Sharknado series of films, tweeted, "We always knew this day would come. #Sharknado."

However, as the clip circulated further, others pointed out that it's not actually a shark, and is likely a large tuna fish or Spanish mackerel, which is commonly found in the coast along South Carolina.

The swimmers and sun-bathers below don't seem to notice the incredible scenes happening in the sky above them, but as one viewer put it, "Imagine lying on the beach and the bird drops this right above you and a shark [or tuna, or mackerel], falls from the sky onto you".

One Twitter user, Bon Iverson, had the utterly inspirational idea to add the "Baby Shark" song to the video, and the results were as fitting as you'd expect.

Unfor-tuna-tely, there was no camera present when the bird returned to its nest-- but we assume the fish got battered.
