Blue Planet II is coming to Dublin and Belfast in 2019

THE BBC's award-winning nature series Blue Planet II is coming to Ireland in 2019.

Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, the documentary served up a fascinating and, at times, mesmerising closer look at the many spectacular underwater animals residing in the briny deep.

A hugely popular follow-up to the original series, the show is now being taken on the road with Blue Planet II Live - and it's coming to Irish shores.

Venues in Belfast and Dublin will play host to the event this March - and it sounds like one you won't want to miss.

Those attending will be treated to yet more fascinating footage of nature's many underwater creations, accompanied by narration from Attenborough and a live orchestral score composed by Hans Zimmer.

"The idea is to depict the abundance of life as well as the movements and vibrations of the ocean," Zimmer said.

"By using the orchestra in an unconventional way, we wanted to create 'living' chords that ebb and flow throughout the series."

The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing the show's background music with Matthew Freeman conducting proceedings.

"With the winning combination of a live symphony orchestra of 80 musicians and some of the most stunning underwater images ever seen, Blue Planet II Live in Concert brings together inspirational visuals with magnificent original music," Freeman said.

"It's a moving experience and a privilege to conduct this unique concert."

Blue Planet II live will be coming to Belfast's SSE Arena on March 23rd and Dublin's 3Arena on March 24th. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster and priced from €44.
