‘Preferably Caucasian’ – Recruitment firm apologises over job advert

A RECRUITMENT firm has apologised after it posted a job advert stating it wanted to hear from candidates who are “preferably Caucasian”.

Cynet Systems included the controversial comments in its listing for an account manager role that appeared on a number of websites.

The job description originally sought someone "preferably Caucasian who has good technical background including knowledge of RPA".

Coder Helena McCabe first spotted the listing, sharing a screenshot on Twitter in a posting that subsequently went viral.

Your job listing for a mid-senior level business development position's top qualification is 'Preferably Caucasian,'" she wrote alongside the post.

"How could you POSSIBLY think that's okay?"

The firm, whose two CEOS, Nikhil Budhiraja and Ashwani Mayur, are themselves Indian-American, has since taken down the advert and issued an apology.

“Cynet apologizes for the anger & frustration caused by the offensive job post,” a response posted to Twitter read.

“It does not reflect our core values of inclusivity & equality. The individuals involved have been terminated.

“We will take this as a learning experience & will continue to serve our diverse community.”
