Dublin ranked among world’s worst cities for commuters

DUBLIN HAS been named among the world’s worst cities for commuters.

As anyone who has ever owned and operated a car in the Irish capital will know, the city has something of an issue when it comes to traffic jams.

Now further proof of this mounting problem has been provided in the form of a new report from motoring data firm Inrix.

It’s revealed that commuters in Dublin spent a staggering 250 hours stuck in cars over the past year alone.

That equates to a total of 10 whole days in traffic jams for Dublin commuters.

The Irish tourist hotspot isn’t the worst offender for traffic levels though.

Moscow topped the rankings of 200 cities, coming in just ahead of Istanbul and Colombia.

Professor Brian Caulfield from Trinity College told the Irish Examiner:

"If there were more options available, then people would have more viable alternatives to make them get out of their car and on to public transport.

"When it comes to more investment in lanes the city centre, space for cars in the city centre, that's not there. One of the things I always say is that we have a space problem when it comes to transport."
