Ireland's top 10 best-rated hotels have been revealed

IRELAND IS home to some of the finest hotels on the planet.

Boasting luxury accommodation, alongside fine dining and stunning locations, visitors really are spoilt for choice when it comes to booking accommodation on these green hills.

And further evidence of that was provided in the Condé Nast Traveler's 2018 Readers' Choice Awards, which revealed Ireland's 10 best-rated hotels.

Based on the ratings of some 429,000 travellers, it's about as democratic and influential as you can get.

The vote saw The Westbury in Dublin crowned Ireland's top hotel just ahead of Ballyfin in County Laois and The Lodge at Ashford Castle, County Mayo.

The top ten reads as follows:

10. Clontarf Castle, Dublin

9. The Merrion, Dublin

8. Lough Eske Castle, County Donegal

7. The Shelbourne, Dublin

6. Intercontinental, Dublin

5. Waterford Castle, County Waterford

4. Park Hotel Kenmare, County Kerry

3. The Lodge at Ashford Castle, County Mayo

2. Ballyfin, County Laois

1. The Westbury, Dublin

Elsewhere, Dublin was named among the world's Top 20 cities with Condé Nast Traveler describing the Irish capital thusly:

"Sitting on the mouth of the River Liffey, the capital of Ireland is renowned for its medieval buildings, live music in Temple Bar, stately churches, and of course, Guinness."
