A SURPRISE death could well be on the cards in the new series of Peaky Blinders.
The crime drama is returning to our screens in 2019 and in a tweet that is sure to get fans talking, the creative team behind the show appeared to hint at some major surprises ahead.
Creator Steven Knight has never shied away from pulling a surprise or two on the show, not least when it comes to killing off some pretty major characters.
And, if a tweet from the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account is anything to go by, it would appear someone significant could be offed in the new series.
"First day back on set for #PeakyBlinders Series 5. You’re sure of a big surprise," the tweet read, alongside a picture of a blood-splattered clapper board and a gun.

The eagle-eyed fans among us will have also noted the clapper board indicates they were filming scene 33 of episode two, suggesting a shocking early death for a major character is on the way.
It’s not the first time the BBC has hinted at peril ahead of Cillian Murphy’s Thomas Shelby and the rest of the Peaky Blinders.
A two-second clip shared at the back end of 2018 sees Shelby involved in chaotic scenes in and around Birmingham and a savage looking car fire.
Some pretty impressive names have been recruited for the show’s fifth season.
Sam Claffin has joined the cast in an unknown role, with some speculating he will play a member of the UK parliament who proves something of an adversary for Shelby who became an MP for Birmingham at the end of the series.
Anya Taylor-Joy along with Irish actors Brian Gleeson and Emmett J. Scanlan are also joining the cast.
The official synopsis reads:
"Series five finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere.
"When Tommy Shelby MP is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.”
No release date has yet been confirmed for the new series.
