Van driver in his 60s dies after collision with lorry in west of Ireland

A MAN in his 60s has died after a fatal road traffic collision in the west of Ireland.

The van driver was killed in a crash involving an articulated lorry on the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road in Co. Kerry on Wednesday.

Gardai in Listowel said they are investigating the incident, which occurred near to the village of Ballyduff at approximately 1pm.

The man initially survived the crash and was brought to Kerry University Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the articulated truck was uninjured.

The stretch of road where the collision occurred is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
