Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland to perform at the Albert Hall

There was a sneak preview of what to expect at the Albert Hall in October when the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland Peace Proms launched at the Irish Embassy this week.

Sharon Treacy-Dunne, founding director of CBOI, was joined by children from Brunswick Park primary school in Camberwell who gave a short performance.

The school children will be joining 1,000 others from primary schools across London to make up a Peace Choir that will join CBOI in a music extravaganza directed by Gearóid Grant at the Royal Albert Hall on October 12.

CBOI was established in 1995 as a means of bringing young people together from different backgrounds and communities, through the medium of music.

It includes 130 young people from across the island of Ireland.

Following sell out concert tours to China, the US and throughout Europe, the October performance marks the orchestra's London debut.

The concert will feature some of Ireland’s leading soloists as well as Drum and Piping Corps.
