Dates announced for the Return to Camden Town Festival 2013

THE 15th Return to Camden Town Festival is set to take place over the last weekend in October and the first weekend in November.

Confirmed acts for the festival, which celebrates traditional Irish music and dance, include the John Carty Festival Band, Antrim singer Len Graham and the concertina and accordion duet of Danny O’Mahony and Micheál O’Raghallaigh.

Live sessions are planned in The London Irish Centre and in local Camden pubs over the course of both weekends.

The opening weekend – from Friday October 25 until Sunday October 27 – will focus mainly on music, with concerts, instrumental workshops and informal music sessions taking place.

The second festival weekend – which runs from Friday 1 November until Sunday November 3 – incorporates the 3rd Gaelic Voices Festival and will focus primarily on dancing and singing, with set and sean nós dancing workshops and céilís, and singing events.

Other events on the 2013 programme include an album launch by the Massachusetts accordion player Colm Gannon; a documentary premier screening about fiddle player Bryan Rooney; set dancing céilís; and dance tuition by Mick Mulkerrin.

A series of preview events will feature prior to the main festival. On Sunday June 30, a DVD screening and an album launch of Nights in Shanaglish with Paddy Egan, Vince Keehan and friends takes place in the Presidential Suite at the London Irish Centre in Camden. Entrance to the event is free.
