Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given took to twitter to thank his celebrity pals who supported his Fashion Kicks fundraiser in Manchester.
The Aston villa footballer, along with wife Jane, raised over £200,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support and other local charities at their recent fundraiser.
“This year’s Fashion Kicks event was the best ever,” Shay said. “Jane has worked incredibly hard to organise this event, and we’d also especially like to thank Westlife, Dawn Porter, Prodijig and all our guests for their generous support.”
Hosts Jane and Shay rolled out the red carpet at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club to welcome superstars from the worlds of music, football and entertainment to their annual charity bash.
Presented by TV’s Dawn Porter, who is engaged to Roscommon actor and comedian Chris O’Dowd, guests were treated to an fashion show hosted by Selfridges, featuring Premier League ‘models’ including Shay, Darren Bent, Emile Heskey and Vincent Kompany.
Guests also enjoyed dinner by leading chefs Paul Heathcote and Nigel Haworth, before being entertained by Got To Dance winners Irish Dance group Prodijig. A performance by Westlife, who gave their final charity concert, helped end the night on a high.
Other star guests included Louis Walsh and Premier League players including James Milner, John Hart, Carlos Cuellar, Pablo Zabaletta, Nigel de Jong and Stephen Warnock.
Warnock bid £10,000 to appear on stage on the night with Wesltife. And the 30-year-old Aston Villa defender even managed to upstage singer Shane Filan with his rendition of Mack The Knife.
