Man extradited from Britain to Ireland over 2010 murder to appear in court tomorrow

A MAN has been extradited from Britain to Ireland over the murder of an Irish solider in Dublin eight years ago.

The suspect is due to appear in Dublin District Court tomorrow to face a charge of murder.

Warren O’Connor, 24, was stabbed to death in January 2010 after coming to the aid of a friend and his family.

According to the Irish Independent, the suspect in the murder investigation is understood to have fled Dublin for London shortly after being interviewed by gardaí.

However the 34-year-old suspect was arrested in London on January 9 this year and held in custody.

Officers from the gardaí’s Extradition Unit then arrested him at Heathrow Airport and brought him to Coolock Garda Station this evening.

Mr O’Connor died after being stabbed during an altercation in Coolock on January 16, 2010.

A friend who lived at the Grattan Wood apartment complex had called Mr O’Connor for help after allegedly getting into a row over a neighbour’s music.

Mr O’Connor was driving his friend, his friend’s pregnant partner and their four-year-old son away from the apartment block when they were rammed by a chasing car.

Mr O’Connor was stabbed after getting out of the car and later died in hospital.
