Lottery ticket sold worth more than €8 million in Connacht

A TICKET sold in a service station in Galway has won one lucky Irish player €8.5 million.

The ticket won big in Saturday's jackpot, winning one Irish person a juicy 8.5 million euro.

The numbers that won in the draw were 5, 6, 14, 19, 22, and 30, alongside the bonus number of 24.

According to The Irish Times, the ticket was bought in Corrib Oil station in the area of Loughrea in the Tribesmen County.

Owner of the service station where the ticket was purchased, Pat Halligan, said anticipation had set in in the town of Loughrea following news of the win.

He said: "The excitement is unreal. There is a great buzz in the shop today with people coming in checking their tickets and speculating about the winner.

He hoped the ticket had been sold to a Loughrea resident: "This is the biggest ever National Lottery win for this shop and we would love if it was a local."

Mr Halligan said the good news had cause for celebration for all staff members of his shop: "This is a busy store with more than 30 full and part-time staff and we are in party mode today. The staff were told the great news last night by WhatsApp so there is a carnival atmosphere here."
