Tipperary teen left with serious head injuries following unprovoked attack

A horrific attack occurred in a rural Irish town last night.

A 14-year-old boy is in serious condition at a Tipperary hospital today, following an unprovoked attack by another teenager late last night.

The victim was discovered with serious head injuries in the Lakelands area of Tipperary town at 10.50pm.

It is understood the boy is from the town and was discovered by a group of people who were in the area at the time.

Emergency services attended the scene and the boy was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel for treatment.

A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the assault and is currently being held at Tipperary Garda Station, where he can be detained for up to 12 hours.

Detective Inspector Patrick O’ Callaghan confirmed that local gardai are investigating the “unprovoked attack”, and confirmed that there was no fight going on at the time.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and have sealed off the area of the incident for investigation.
