Met Éireann warns of ‘violent’ gusts as it issues updated Storm Dylan weather warning

MET ÉIREANN has issued an updated Orange wind warning as Storm Dylan descends on Ireland.

The warning, which is in place until midday on Sunday, affects northern and western counties as well as other counties further inland.

The areas on alert are Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath.

The Orange warning – the second most severe issued by Met Éireann – warns of 'violent gusts' of up to 130km/h and average wind speeds of up to 80km/h.

Storm Dylan will track northwards close to the Connacht and Ulster coasts throughout the night and into Sunday morning.

High seas along the west and northwest coasts could also lead to flooding.

Meanwhile a Yellow wind warning is in place for Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Cork Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

The warning, which is also in place until midday Sunday, forecasts winds of up to 65km/h and gusts of up to 110km/h.
