TWO gardaí were taken to hospital for treatment after their patrol car was rammed by a stolen garda car.
The incident happened in Dublin on August 11. The car has been stolen the day before.
“Gardaí commenced an investigation following an incident of burglary and the unauthorised taking of a car in the Santry area on 10th August 2026,” the police force said in a statement.
“On the evening of Monday 11th August 2026 shortly before midnight, Gardaí from DMR West Roads Policing Unit, and Blanchardstown and Meath South Community Engagement, were involved in a related managed containment operation at the Ward, Dublin 11,” they explained.
“During the course of the operation, the stolen car collided with a marked patrol vehicle,” they added.
“The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled on foot.
“Two members of An Garda Síochána exited the vehicle and received assistance. Both were conveyed to hospital for treatment.”
Both officers have since been released from hospital.
“An Garda Síochána continues to provide welfare support to the members as they recuperate, and to their families,” they added.
