16-year-old Ellen Molloy scores four goals in one game for Wexford Youths

WEXFORD MIGHT just have a star on their hands.

When writing about young athletes and sports stars, it is easy to get carried away and start creating a future for them that they may not necessarily want.

So with 16-year-old Ellen Molloy, we'll be extra careful, but it seems as though she is headed straight to the very top.

22 is young for a footballer, so to be doing what she is for Wexford Youths at just 16 is nothing short of incredible.

In a recent game against Treaty United in the Women's National League, Molloy scored four goals in a brilliant 7-1 win.

At the WNL Awards in 2020, Molloy was named Young Player of the Season and named in the Team of the Season.

What a talent.

Ireland manager Vera Pauw called up Molloy for the first time on 28 August 2020, for the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 qualifier against Germany on 19 September 2020.

She made her senior international debut in Ireland's next match, against Ukraine in Kyiv on 23 October.

To already be in and amongst the senior international setup at that age says it all, and it's entirely possible that we will see her have an extraordinary career, be it in Ireland or abroad.

Ellen Molly - remember the name.
