In Pictures... Ireland fans show support in World Cup Cricket opener

IRELAND fans turned out in their droves to show their support for the boys in green as they defeated the West Indies by four wickets in their World Cup opener in Nelson, New Zealand.

Faces were painted, Irish flags waved and oversized hats worn as the crowd cheered on captain William Porterfield and the team as the sun beat down on the cricket ground in New Zealand's south island.

Ireland take on the UAE on February 25 in Brisbane, Australia, where a similarly vibrant turnout will be expected as the team seek to secure their second Pool B win in a bid to reach the quarter-finals.
