Ireland's Eurovision dreams end as Molly fails to make the cut

IRELAND’S Eurovision dreams have been dashed once again, as this year’s act Molly Sterling failed to make it to tomorrow’s final.

The 17-year-old Tipperary singer took to the stage for last night’s second Eurovision semi-final in Vienna – but did not manage to secure a place in the grand finale.

Molly sang her entry, Playing with Numbers, along with acts from 16 other countries, but failed to make the top ten, who progressed to tomorrow night.

The bookies’ favourite Sweden, represented by Måns Zelmerlöw, sailed through the semi-final and will perform tenth on the night of the final.

Ireland’s impressive record at the Eurovision has taken a beating in recent years.

Despite being the most successful country in to competition’s history with seven wins, Irish entries have failed to make it to the final five times in the past ten years.

Additionally, the 2007 and 2013 entries finished in last place.
