Dublin schools mourn shock deaths of ‘lovely, happy children’ murdered by father in Poland

PUPILS AND staff at two schools in Dublin are in mourning after it emerged two Irish-born ex-pupils were killed in a murder-suicide in Poland.

Victor Marin Del Sol and Ewelina Szwarc’s three children Oskar, Christian and Maria Victoria spent a year in schools in the Rathfarnham region of the Irish capital.

Christian and Maria Victoria were enrolled at Scoil Naomh Padraig while Oskar was a pupil at Ballyroan Boys School.

The three children spent a year at the Dublin schools before eventually moving to Poland to live with their moth Ewelina while their Spanish father Victor remained in Ireland working as a waiter.

According to the Irish Examiner, Victor flew out to be with his family just before Christmas. It was then that the shocking events unfolded.

Initial reports suggest Victor killed his partner Ewelina along with his sons Oskar and Christian, who were nine and seven respectively at the time of their deaths.

He then took his own life. Maria Victoria managed to escape.

News of the incident has now filtered through to Ireland and the schools where the three children spent a single, happy, year.

Scoil Naomh Padraig Grace O'Neill recalled how Christian and Maria Victoria were "lovely, happy children" at the school.

"We will remember them in our prayers,” she added.

Ballyroan Boys School principal Des Morris spoke in similarly glowing terms about Oskar.:

"Oskar was a lovely child,” he told the Irish Examiner.

“He was a nice boy. He spoke Polish and Spanish and had little English, but he was developing well in the language and integrating well.

"It is shocking and sad."

Details around the murder-suicide remain scarce with Polish police continuing to investigate.
