Police release CCTV image as mystery surrounding young Irishman's death in Britain continues

BRITISH police investigating the death of a young Irishman have charged two men and have now released CCTV footage in an effort to identify a third.

Shortly before 1.40am on April 12, staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary reported to police that 20-year-old Donegal native Dylan Crawford had been found unconscious on Spear Street that morning and had died.

An investigation was launched and a Home Office post mortem was inconclusive, so enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of death.

On Saturday, April 15, Ibrahim Amin, 39, was charged with theft and Abdi Hassan, 33, was charged with handling a stolen card and fraud.

Both men, of no fixed abode, appeared in Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Saturday evening.

Police are now appealing for the public’s help to trace another man pictured in CCTV images in connection with the investigation.

In the images, the man appears to be wearing grey jeans, black trainers and a black hooded jacket.

Detective Inspector Rebecca Boyce of GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “Our investigation into Dylan’s death continues and we have now released an image of a man we want to speak to.

"If you recognise him or the clothes he is wearing, please get in touch.

“We are still keen to speak to anyone who was around the Spear Street, Back Piccadilly Street and Oldham Street area between 11.30pm on Tuesday and 12.30am on Wednesday to come forward.

“Even at this time of night the area would be fairly busy, so it is possible that somebody may have seen something.

"No piece of information is too small, and it may be vital to our investigation.”

Paying tribute to Dylan, his family said: “Our Dylan was a loving, kind and a very trustworthy individual. He saw the good in everyone and that was his down fall.

“He loved to travel and would give the world to anyone. He was the heart of our family and words can't describe how devastated we are.

“Our home will never be the same without him. We love you son, brother, cousin and friend. May you rest in peace darling.”
