Woman dies in hospital days after being involved in collision in Co. Clare

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a driver who was involved in a collision in Co. Clare died in hospital.

The woman, who was aged in her 60s, was involved in a single vehicle collision on the R458, Rathfolan in Newmarket on Fergus on March 27.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the incident, which happened shortly before 10.50pm, and the woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries described as “serious”.

The woman died last night as a result of her injuries, Gardaí confirmed this morning.

A woman, aged in her 70s, who was a passenger the car at the time of the incident is receiving hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

“Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the R458, near Rathfollan, Newmarket on Fergus, Co. Clare on Friday 27th March 2026 between 10:30pm and 11:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,’ they state.
