Colin Farrell: 'I was terrified of making love sober'

COLIN Farrell has spoken out about his former wild ways saying that he was ‘terrified’ of making love sober.

The 37-year-old Irish actor - who is interviewed in this Wednesday's Irish Post - has a history of wooing women but said that his first fling after going clean left him petrified.

Speaking to Elle, Farrell said: ''I worried I wouldn't be able to talk, full stop. I hadn't uttered a word sober in about 15 years... I made love to a woman about two and a half years after I got clean, and it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life.

''It was in the afternoon. The windows and the curtains were open. It was lovely, and, to be crass, it wasn't f**king.

''She was very gentle. But it was terrifying. Because I was just used to drunkenness and dark rooms and clubs and toilets and wherever.''

The single star added that he does not think he could maintain a monogamous relationship at this moment in his career.

He said: "I’ve had arguments with friends about this. For me, I don’t know if it (monogamy) is possible. I’m not saying it’s not possible. I have been monogamous in relationships. But I’m not in a relationship now.

“So they haven’t worked. So it wouldn’t stand up in court. I don’t believe that marriage is for everyone.’

The Dublin actor is currently starring in A New York Winter’s Tale, which will be released in cinemas on Friday.

The film has had a poor opening weekend in the US with critics calling it Farrell’s third box-office flop in a row where he has played the lead role.

The romantic fantasy, with an estimated budget of $150 million, has taken in less than $10 million in the US.

Hi previous movie, the thriller Dead Man Down took in just $10m in total in the US, while Seven Psychopaths earned just $15m in the US.
