Lindisfarne musicians come to the rescue of two disappointed Irish fans

TWO Lindisfarne fans from Ireland who missed out on seeing a show after the date and venue were rescheduled will get to meet their heroes in Newcastle next month - thanks to the band's generosity.

Lifelong fans Joan and Ann Gallagher from Quigley’s Point in Co. Donegal had tickets to see Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell perform The Lindisfarne Story last year in Belfast.

But news of a change in date and venue for the folk/rock band’s gig didn't reach the sisters until after they had made the 85 mile journey.

When Ray and Billy heard of their story, they decided to put things right and invited them to attend their new show, all expenses paid, at The Sage Gateshead on November 21.

"It was the least we could do, we hate to see people disappointed and as we don't get across the Irish Sea very often we thought we'd bring them here to the city where the Lindisfarne Story began," said Ray.

Joan added: "We were delighted and surprised by their kindness and generosity and we look forward to visiting Newcastle to see the show.”

The Lindisfarne Story is currently on tour across Britain.
