Northern Irish pastor previously rushed into intensive care recovers from coronavirus

A PASTOR in Northern Ireland has made a remarkable recovery nearly a month on from being rushed into intensive care with coronavirus.

Pastor Mark McClurg from Newtownards Elim Church was admitted to Ulster Hospital after beginning to feel unwell.

Though he wasn’t initially displaying the best-known symptoms of coronavirus, the 40-year-old's condition worsened to the extend he had to be taken into intensive care.

A fit and healthy father-of-three, the virus left McClurg sapped of strength and fearing for his life.

However, as March draws to a close, this brave man of the cloth has been discharged from Ulster Hospital after making an amazing recovery.

The pastor, who has been chronicling his experience with coronavirus on Twitter, returned to the social media platform to announce his recovery and pay tribute to the incredible work of NHS staff there.

"I have some amazing news," Pastor McClurg tweeted.

"I'm leaving the Ulster Hospital. I want to thank everyone for their prayers.

"I want to thank the staff at the Ulster Hospital for saving my life.

"I am looking forward to enjoying life. Be kind.

"Jesus is my healer. There is hope. We will get through," he said.

Later, McClury returned to Twitter with a brief video message.

"I want God to heal our land," he said.

"There's a physical healing that needs to happen. Coronavirus is spreading. But more importantly there is a spiritual healing. We need a revival."

He then went on to quote the Bible saying: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
