THE TRAITORS IRELAND is returning to screens this month for a second series, with bosses claiming the 'stakes are even higher'.
The first series of the Irish version of the show was a hit with audiences, with its most-watched episode drawing 818,000 viewers, putting it in the top-10 programmes of 2025.
Its 12 episodes each averaged 557,000 live and same-day views, accounting for a 50 per cent share of the audience.
It also became one of the most popular programmes on RTÉ Player, where it amassed 4.7m streams.
The hit show, fronted by Siobhan McSweeney and filmed at Slane Castle, will now return to screens on Sunday, August 30, as will companion show The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked.
'Drama, intrigue, treachery'
"We're delighted to welcome audiences back to Slane Castle for a brand-new season of The Traitors Ireland," said Teresa Smith, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment RTÉ.
"The first series captivated viewers across the country, and with this season the stakes are even higher.
"With a fresh group of players, new twists, new gameplay and plenty of surprises in store, audiences can expect all the drama, intrigue, treachery and unforgettable moments that makes The Traitors Ireland unmissable."
Hidden among the players, a select few will be secretly chosen as Traitors, while the rest become Faithfuls.
The players will compete in challenges to win money for the prize pot of up to €50,000 while attempting to determine who among them might betray their trust.
Faithfuls Kelley Higgins, Oyin Adeyemi and Vanessa Ogbonna won the first series and shared a pot of €42,900.
Kevin McGahern will again host The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, with each episode featuring exclusive interviews and unseen footage.
Joined by celebrity guests and those who have been murdered or banished, all the behind-the-scenes secrets will be spilled as they react and analyse the night’s events.
The show will air directly after The Traitors Ireland on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
'Distinctively Irish version'
Mairéad Whelan, Series Producer, Kite Entertainment said the new series would be full of 'twists, turns and tears'.
"Once again, we've leaned into our own humour, culture, and characters to bring audiences another distinctively Irish version of The Traitors," she said.
"This series is riddled with all the twists, turns and tears of an All-Ireland Final, but with new players, it's a brand-new game.
"Our Traitors and Faithful played a blinder, getting stuck into lies, accusations, murders, missions, banishments and the occasional croissant.
"We couldn't be prouder of them or of the creative and talented team behind the scenes that made it all happen."
