Tragic teen hit by van gives gift of life as organs donated to three people

THE TRAGIC Irish teen who was hit by a van on his way to school has given the gift of life to three people as his organs have been donated.

Dane Loakman, 16, died following the road accident in Sallins Co Kildare on Monday, November 27.

Speaking to KildareNow, his mother Alison Loakman confirmed his family's decision to donate the talented young footballer's organs.

Ms Loakman said: "As far as I know three people have had transplants and the operations went well. Although I'm not sure how they are doing just yet."

"We're still in shock like it hasn't sank in yet at all," she added.

Dane was on his way to school when he was struck by a van while crossing the Clane road in Sallins around 7.45am.

He was rushed to Naas General Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he sadly passed away in hospital surrounded by his family the following day.

The young teen was an active member of Sallins Celtic football club, who paid tribute to him in a touching tribute on their Facebook page.

They said: "It is with great regret we find ourselves posting our condolences to the family of Dane Loakman.

"Dane was a part of our club just like his mother Alison and brother Codey.

"A great energetic and well mannered kid who will be sadly missed and remembered by us all.

"RIP Little Man," they added.
