A Celtic women's coach was headbutted by a Rangers women's coach after an Old Firm derby draw

A CLIP OF a Celtic women's coach being headbutted by a Rangers women's coach has gone viral on social media.

Celtic and Rangers played out a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Women's Premier League on Sunday. Celtic were heading for defeat, but they managed to rescue a point late on thanks to Caitlin Hayes

However, the viral clip of the headbutt has become the biggest takeaway from the game.

Both sets of players and staff members of Celtic and Rangers attended to the customary sporting handshakes at full time.

In the viral clip Fran Alonso, the Celtic boss shook hands with a Rangers player and turned his back. Gers coach Craig McPherson was then seen running up to Celtic boss Alonso and headbutting him in the back of the head.

The incident was caught on the Sky Sports camera and a small melee broke out but was quickly quashed.

Speaking after the game, Alonso explained there was reason for the head butt and that McPherson called him a 'little rat'.

"It is frustration. It is not how I would show frustration but that is what it was, and I understand what happened," said Alonso.

"It is football. These are the emotions. It was not much. I felt a little bit of contact and then I heard him call me a 'little rat'.

"I don't know why. I don't know the reason. You would have to ask him. But I had no issues with them during the game.

"But, honestly, for me, it is nothing. It can stay here as part of the game. I don't wish him to be banned or suspended. It is not something you want to see but for me it is not a big issue."
