A beauty business with added “Irish therapy"

AFTER preening and pampering the people of Dublin for more than a decade beauty therapist Louise Davis decided to relocate her business and her life to Britain.

Five years out of her home city, she is now settled in Bristol – where she brings the best of “Irish therapy” to the people of the city at her Redland Treatment Rooms salon.

“I’m about to go into my third year at my salon here in Bristol, which I decided to set up after moving to the city with my partner and just falling in love with the place,” the entrepreneur told The Irish Post this week.

After spending time working in London, having previously ran her own business in Dublin, Davis decided her new Bristolian neighbours could benefit from an Irish touch when it came to their
beauty routines and regimes.

“I had 12 years’ worth of clients behind me in Ireland when I decided to close up and start again in England,” she admits, “so leaving them was hard, but since opening the Redland Treatment Rooms I really haven’t looked back.”

She added: “It’s a shop front business just off of a busy street and we offer all the usual beauty treatments as well as alternative therapies, including acupuncture, reflexology and Reiki. So there is truly something for everyone – male or female.

“And I’ve been really lucky because most of the footfall we see comes through word of mouth, as where I am based in the city there was a massive need for the experience and techniques I provide.”

The determined businesswoman – who claims she spends so much time at the salon that she has yet to “explore” all of Bristol herself – is confident that the success for the Redland Treatment Rooms can only grow.

“There are a number of things that make the salon unique here,” the Dubliner explained.

“Firstly I have brought all my years of experience from Ireland and all my training and my products. I am a Dermalogica salon and a hot wax therapist, which does not seem to be largely available around here. I also have a background in aromatherapy and massage and a team which includes an acupuncturist, a reflexologist and a holistic therapist.”

The dedication of Davis and her team continues to bring clients through their doors, where they offer a “spa-like service” without the robes.

“My work is my passion and my hobby, it’s my life,” Davis said. “From working crazy hours on the business in Ireland to deciding to come to Bristol and give the city a bit of Irish therapy I have
always been dedicated to my work,” she added.

“Luckily my business has grown each month, so I really haven’t looked back at this stage.

“But for me it’s all about the experience for the client. It’s having the spa feel – from the luxurious brands to the cosy room and heated beds – and to incorporate that into a salon without it being all hustle and bustle,” she explained.

“That works well for us as we offer a small and intimate space, where you pay for a therapist’s time and you get their full time, and it’s that added value that our clients love.”
