'I've no problem turning 40, it's good to be alive,' says Imelda May

IMELDA May has revealed that she “has no problem turning 40,” saying that she’d “rather be here than not.”

The Love Tattoo star - who plays a special St Patrick's Day gig in London tonight (March 17) - spoke about the upcoming milestone in July.

She will celebrate her birthday  month after her next album Tribal is released and said: "Some people get upset about their birthday, but why get upset about being around for another year?

"It's good to be alive," she added, which coincidently is the name of her current single.

Imelda added: "I'll be celebrating in Madrid with the band; I've no problem with turning 40. We'll have a bit of a bash."

There will also be cause for celebration tonight when May headlines a St Patrick’s Day gig at London’s Roundhouse.

Audience members can expect Tribal to take centre stage at Roundhouse, along with anthems such as Johnny Got A Boom Boom and Inside Out.

The gig will also recognise May’s long overdue return since the success of the UK Top album Mayhem and will be followed by an as-yet-to-be announced autumn tour.
