Sharon Horgan and Aisling Bea to script new Channel 4 comedy

IRISH comedians Sharon Horgan and Aisling Bea are set to script a new Channel 4 sitcom.

Meath native Horgan, 45, who is the writer and star of hit series Catastrophe, will work alongside Bea, 31, to deliver an original script for a new show.

The pair – who are both based in Britain - have been commissioned by Channel 4 for the upcoming comedy that tells the story of a woman searching for her real father.

The yet-to-be-named production is still in its “early days” according to Meath comedian Bea.

"We've been working together for a few years on bits and pieces, and when Sharon and Celia Mountford set up their own production company, Merman, we started chatting about ideas and brainstorming things we could make together," Bea told comedy entertainment site Chortle.

Bea – who is currently at the Edinburgh Fringe - picked up best female television comic at last year's British Comedy Awards.

She previously worked with Horgan on BBC series Dead Boss.
