Irish boy provides interesting insight into living with autism

A YOUNG Irish boy has provided a useful insight into living with autism after being filmed in a Snapchat interview by his uncle.

Sean, from Tallaght, who has been diagnosed with Atypical Autism, reveals how his condition has affected him and what can be done to help others in his situation.

The video - which has been shared over 3,000 times - was posted on Facebook on Sunday to mark National Autism Awareness Month.

When asked what the differences were between having autism and not having autism, Sean said: "Some kids with autism have sensory difficulties and don't have good social skills. Stuff like loud noises and loud music just really get to me. Stuff like personal space... it makes me a bit uncomfortable when people are too close to me."

He suggests that people should be "understanding" when it comes to interacting with autism sufferers. "Try to let them in to your activities. Always use literal language; never be sarcastic," he added.
