A SHIVER of around 20 basking sharks was spotted off the coast of Co. Clare.
The sharks – which reach up to 8m in length – were seen swimming close to the shore near Kilkee.
That news would make most people want to stay clear of the Atlantic ocean, but one brave kayaker wanted to see the amazing fish up close.
"Everything was dropped, kayak loaded and off we went", wrote some members of WISKA (West of Ireland Sea Kayaking Association).
In a scene reminiscent of Jaws, the kayaker catches footage of a fin visible above the water, then gets an incredible view of one the basking sharks as it swims right by.
