TV's Irish Supervet launches search for Britain's most talented dog

CHANNEL 4's Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick set tongues and tails wagging when he soared to new heights to find Britain’s most talented dog.

The Co. Laois vet, who is renowned for his pioneering bionic animal surgery techniques, took to the skies in a hot air balloon last week to help launch this year’s SuperDogs Live.

The event is being held this weekend (September 20-21) as part of the National Pet show – taking place at the NEC, Birmingham - where Fitzpatrick will be a special guest judge looking to find the country’s most skilled canines.

The Irishman, who set up Fitzpatrick’s Referrals in 1997, is no stranger to TV screens having launched his second series of Supervet on Channel 4 this autumn, which will focus on the importance of family pets.

His first series, Bionic Vet aired on BBC One in 2010, just two years after Fitzpatrick opened Britain’s biggest dedicated small animal orthopaedic and neuro-surgical facility in Surrey.

Pictured on this week’s balloon ride with the vet are Kin and Flora - an award-winning super dog who has starred in a Hollywood movie as well as a number of TV shows.

Flora is a previous winner of SuperDogs Live, which rewards Britain’s most heroic and entertaining dogs.
