Conor McGregor compares himself and Dee Devlin to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

CONOR MCGREGOR has compared himself and long-term partner Dee Devlin to British royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Notorious took to Instagram to make the comparison, posting a picture of himself alongside Devlin with the caption, "Harry and Megan [sic] who?".

It’s unclear as to what McGregor may be inferring to with the remark with one possible interpretation being that the Irishman is drawing a comparison with the amount of media scrutiny both couples endure.

McGregor, in particular, has been the subject of several tabloid stories in recent months, with the most notable coming from TMZ, who published CCTV footage of the Irishman appearing to punch a man in a Dublin pub.

Alternatively, it may have been a throwaway tongue-in-cheek remark about his and Devlin’s celebrity status in Ireland and beyond. Anything is possible.

In any case, the posting drew a wide range of responses from his fans, many of whom were happy to laugh along with the notion.

“That's my boyyyyyy,” one follower wrote.

“Proper champ,” another concurred.

Not everyone was quite so appreciative though.

“I remember when you were relevant,” a particularly vocal critic wrote.

“Now you’re just a trophy champion.”

It’s not the first time McGregor has taken to Instagram in a rather regal mood.

The Irishman previously posted a picture of himself sitting, bare-chested, on a makeshift-throne of sorts, prompting suggestions he may be suffering delusions of grandeur.

All eyes remain on McGregor’s social media output, however, with an announcement imminent on his fighting future.

Though the Notorious previously announced his retirement from UFC, recent weeks have seen the Irishman linked with a return to the Octagon this December.

A formal announcement confirming his plans for the future is expected at a press conference due to be held in Moscow this Thursday, October 24.
