CHRISTMAS IS that one time of year when it is socially acceptable to drink in any and all social situations.

It's also the perfect excuse to indulge in Ireland's favourite export, Guinness.

In the spirit of giving, the good folk over at the world famous St James's Gate brewery have been busy concocting a few Irish Christmas cocktails that utilises the smooth, silky taste of the world famous Irish Stout.

Here are a selection of festive Guinness cocktail recipes guaranteed to win you friends this Christmas.

1 oz. Black Strap Rum

0.5 oz. sweetened condensed milk

1/2 of a fresh egg

1.5 oz. Guinness Foreign Extra Stout or Guinness Draught

Grated nutmeg

Combine all wet ingredients in a cocktail shaker and dry shake without ice. Add ice to the shaker and continue to shake until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Strain cocktail into a small goblet and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Black Velvet

Half a flute of Champagne

Half a flute of Guinness® Extra Stout

Pour Guinness Draught into a champagne flute. Add champagne carefully, so it does not mix with the Guinness and serve.
