Shocking scenes as Lidl store in Ireland reportedly looted and demolished during Storm Emma

GARDAÍ say they are investigation after a Lidl store was reportedly looted and demolished in Dublin this evening.

Video being shared on social media appeared to show people looting the Fortunestown Lane store in Citywest.

Further footage appeared to show the store being attacked with a JCB.

Other reports suggested the store had been set on fire, however the Dublin Fire Brigade refuted this.

They confirmed they sent three engines after a report of a fire at a supermarket in the area, but added that nothing was found.

In a statement, Lidl said: “We are aware of the very serious incident at our Fortunestown Lane store this evening.”

Gardaí said the incident is under investigation and a number of arrests have been made.
