Seamus Coleman believes that Sean Dyche can lead Everton out of trouble and has thanked Frank Lampard for his time at the club

IRELAND AND EVERTON FULLBACK Seamus Coleman believes that new Everton manager Sean Dyche has the credentials to lead Everton away from the relegation places ahead of the game against Arsenal this weekend.

Everton have gone through the motions over the last 18 months and tensions at Goodison Park has not wavered in any shape or form.

Everton beat the drop by the skin of their teeth last year under Frank Lampard, but this year they have failed to kick on.

Lampard was sacked after a continued string of poor performances on Merseyside.

Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche, who is an experienced coach has been appointed as Lampard's successor this week.

Dyche kept Burnley in the Premier League for several years, but eventually succumbed to the drop with his side.

The 51-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Clarets but will now be tasked with guiding the Toffee's away from the Championship.

Coleman, who is one of Everton's elder statesmen has backed his new boss to do just that.

Speaking in an interview with Talksport this week, the Ireland captain said, "I am confident with the new manager coming in because he has proved it in the past and hopefully, he can do it again.

“He has been tough, but he has been fair, and he has been honest. He says it how it is.

“He did not manage in the Premier League for ten or eleven years without having something about him.

“It is not just a case of him making us wear shinpads and socks (in training) or making us run, there is loads more to what he has brought to us already."

Lampard last year said Coleman was 'one of the best people he knew' when Everton avoided the drop last year.

The Donegal native admitted he was grateful for the job he did last year.

“We wish Frank all the very best. He gave his all to the football club and did a great job keeping us up last year.

“Now we have got a new manager in, and we all need to do our best.

“This football club for the next 18 games is fighting for everything and we need to keep fighting. We have to find a way of getting results.”

Everton take on Arsenal at 12.30 in the early kick off.
