Internet goes into overdrive over rumours that One Direction's Louis Tomlinson named his son after an ancient Irish king

YOU MAY have seen reports yesterday that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson chose a rather regal and very ancient Irish name for his firstborn son.

1D fans took to Twitter to express their excitement over the name  - Conchobar - only for Tomlinson to reveal this morning that he had in fact named his little boy Freddie.

The ancient Irish name was trending all around the world yesterday as rumours intensified that Tomlinson and his former girlfriend Briana Jungwirth had taken advice from his Irish bandmate Niall Horan in the naming department.

But sadly, Conchobar Tomlinson was not to be - with the singer taking to Twitter this morning to share the first photo of his son and his chosen name.

Tomlinson's ex gave birth to the baby boy on January 22.

Freddie Reign Tomlinson may not have an ancient Irish name after all - but if you are still curious about the unusual name, see our explainer here
