Human remains found in fishing trawler’s nets off coast of Ireland

HUMAN remains have been found in a fishing trawler’s nets off the coast of Ireland.

The crew of the French vessel Rio da Bouza made the discovery on Saturday afternoon around 180 nautical miles off the coast of Cork.

The Irish Times reports the captain alerted gardaí when the trawler docked in Castletownbere on Sunday.

Documentation was discovered with the remains, believed to be a torso, during a post mortem at Cork University Hospital today.

DNA samples were taken and gardaí are now liaising with French and Spanish authorities via Interpol to try and identify the remains.
