Hunt on for €39million EuroMillions jackpot winner in Ireland

FRIDAY'S €39million EuroMillions jackpot has been won by someone in Ireland.

The winning numbers for the eye-watering amount were 4, 8, 22, 23, 48 and lucky stars 1 and 12.

It is Ireland’s third EuroMillions jackpot win this year, with a Dublin syndicate scooping €88.5million in January and a west of Ireland winner claiming €29million in July.

It is not yet known if Friday night’s €38, 906,715 jackpot has been won by an individual or a syndicate.

The winner has been urged to keep the winning ticket safe until lottery headquarters open on Tuesday.

A spokesperson said: “This is fantastic news! What a great way for a player to end the year and start the new.

“This has been an amazing year for our EuroMillions players with three Jackpot wins and 31 EuroMillion Plus wins of €500,000 each.

“We are urging all our players to check their tickets to see if they are the lucky winner or winners. At this stage we don’t know if it’s a single winner or a syndicate.

“We advise anybody who has this ticket to keep it safe until they can get into the National Lottery office next week to make their claim.

“This is a valuable piece of paper. We are open after the New Year’s break on Tuesday.”

This week also saw a priest win €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw.

The America-based priest, who was back in his native Ireland for the Christmas break, has promised to share his winnings.
