Wax sculpture of Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams unveiled in Dublin

SINN FÉIN leader Gerry Adams unveiled a wax figure of himself in Dublin this week.

Mr Adams made the trip to the museum in Dublin’s Temple Bar to meet his likeness, which was added to the National Wax Museum’s Good Friday Agreement (GFA) section.

The wax figure took four months to make after Mr Adams was measured up and a cast of his face was taken.

His sculpture will join others including former Democratic Unionist leader Ian Paisley, SDLP founder John Hume and former Taoisigh Bertie Ahern and John Bruton in the GFA section.

Mr Adams was quick to point out the irony of his late inclusion in the section, despite some of his waxwork’s neighbours lack of involvement in the Peace Process.

“Ian Paisley, of course, famously wasn’t part of the Good Friday Agreement, neither was John Bruton,” he said at the unveiling.

“John Major was handed a peace process on a plate, and he broke the plate.”

The wax sculpture is clutching a signed copy of the Agreement in his hands for visitors to pose with.

And of course, Mr Adams, who is releasing a book of his tweets and selfies this week, took the opportunity to take a selfie with the figure.
