The weather this weekend doesn't look most promising

The rainy, unpredictable weather looks set to continue.

Today's weather is to remain cool and blustery with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Some of the showers will be heavy.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells, but a few isolated showers will occur along northern and southwest coasts.

Minimum temperatures 4 to 8 degrees, in mostly light westerly breezes, fresh along northern coasts.

Saturday is set to be dry in most places at first, but outbreaks of rain in the southwest will gradually extend across Munster and south Leinster.

Maximum temperatures will reach from 11 to 14 degrees. Winds will be light and variable in most areas.

Sunday will have widespread rain at first, heavy in places, but brightening up gradually from the west during the morning with sunny spells.

Winds throughout will ease everywhere as the day progresses. Maximum temperatures will reach between 10 and 13 degrees.
