CELTIC have secured the signing of highly-rated Manchester City youngster Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old arrives in Glasgow following a successful season with City's U21s, in which they won the Premier League 2 and he was named as the competition's Player of the Season.
The centre-back further adds to Celtic's defensive arrivals following the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and the singings of Hayato Inamura and youngster Isaac English.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Simpson-Pusey said manager Brendan Rodgers sold him on the move to Glasgow.
"He told me how much he appreciates the club and how much Glasgow appreciates the club," said Simpson-Pusey.
"I wanted to go somewhere where, if I'm playing, I'll be appreciated, so I felt like this was the best option for me.
"This is a big opportunity. I want to come here and show my talent and my levels."
He added: "I'm over the moon really. I just want to come in here and get some wins."
Progress
Simpson-Pusey is no stranger to Celtic, with the youngster lining out against Rodgers' side in a preseason friendly last summer.
He subsequently impressed City manager Pep Guardiola enough to be handed his senior debut last season as a substitute in the League Cup tie with Spurs, with the boss describing his performance as 'exceptional'.
Simpson-Pusey then started City's Champions League meeting with Sporting Lisbon a week later and made his Premier League debut in the following game at Brighton, completing the 90 minutes in both matches.
He made three further senior appearances for the club in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
However, with the likes of Joško Gvardiol, Rúben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Aké ahead of him in the pecking order at City, Simpson-Pusey has sought out first-team football at Celtic.
It's a route that has proven successful for all parties in the past, with City loanees John Guidetti, Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts getting first-team action during title-winning spells in Glasgow.
Georgios Samaras also won four titles in seven seasons at Celtic after first arriving from City on loan, while Olivier Ntcham won three titles in four years after signing for Celtic, having never made a first-team appearance at the Etihad.
Meanwhile, Dedryck Boyata won the league in each of his four seasons at Celtic and became a regular for Belgium after making a permanent switch from City, where he had struggled to break into the first team.
