Thomas McCurtains

There will be a Mass on Sunday May 3 in St Vincent’s Church at 12.00pm for Former Club President Bill Treacy and all deceased Club Members.

Men’s football training continues Tuesday and Thursday in Goodmayes at 7.30pm.

The footballers played their final group game of the McArdle Cup on Saturday. The final score was St Clarets 1-8 Thomas McCurtains 1-7 .  Despite having numerous absentees the team gave a very good account of themselves with a spirited and dogged display and were unlucky to concede a point in the last kick of the game.

The preliminary round of the Intermediate Hurling Championship was contested between Thomas McCurtains and Fr. Murphy’s on Sunday in Ruislip.

A perfect day for hurling made for an enthralling encounter between last year’s intermediate championship finalists’ and the recently relegated Fr. Murphy’s.  The final score was 3.14 to 2.15 in the favour of Fr. Murphy’s, who gave a spirited second half performance to secure the win.

There was a number of good points to pick from Sundays contest, in particular the organisation and structure of the squad; which all stems from a new and improved training regime, introduced by Brian Ryan (Tipperary).

The ladies team had a decisive win over St Anthony's in the first round of the Junior League 1-12 to 1-2. Mary Duffy and Aileen O'Leary both had fantastic games on their debut for McCurtains.

Next game of the league this Saturday in Greenford against Heston Gaels.
