Filming of fifth season of Love/Hate resumes

THE CAST of gangland drama Love/Hate have reunited in Dublin to begin filming the fifth season of the hit RTE series.

There is great anticipation for the new series with much of the plot focusing on the underworld criminal Nidge, who is expected to flee to Spain. The character is played by UK-based actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

On Wednesday, Lawlor and his co-stars Peter Coonan and Aoibhinn McGinnity were spotted near The Towers pub in Ballymun, north Dublin, where they have been filming interior scenes.

Production of the IFTA-winning show has taken place across a number of locations around the city to date, including a closed garda station in Whitehall, a graveyard in Deansgrange and a house in Castleknock, as the show’s creator Stuart Carolan chose to limit the use of film sets.

Season five of Love/Hate will features six episodes with filming set to continue until June.

The production will then move to an overseas holiday resort for several weeks.

Each season of Love/Hate has so far ended with the death of a central character with John Boy (Aidan Gillen), Darren (Robert Sheehan), Dano (Jason Barry) and Debbie (Susan Loughnane) all killed off.

It is rumoured that another lead actor will exit the show in the forthcoming series.

Carolan is also planning a sixth season of the hit show, but it has yet to be signed off on by RTE.
