Michael Fassbender begins shooting Steve Jobs biopic

FILMING for the new Steve Jobs biopic, starring Michael Fassbender, is underway in San Francisco.

Universal pictures confirmed that the Kerryman will play the Apple co-founder in the as-yet-untitled film, following a series of changes since it was given the go ahead.

It began as a Sony production with David Fincher directing Leonardo DiCaprio, then Christian Bale, in the lead, before rival studio Universal drew Fassbender into the role.

The film derives from a screenplay by the Oscar-winning writer of The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin.

Slumdog Millionaire's Danny Boyle will direct the piece, with Seth Rogen taking on the role of Jobs' earlier collaborator Steve Wozniak and Kate Winslet playing Macintosh marketing expert Joanna Hoffman.

The film will follow the life of the technology guru who died of cancer in 2011.
