Irish actress Danika McGuigan has died aged 33

DANIKA MCGUIGAN has passed away.

Her family announced her passing today through Danika’s agency, “after a brief but brave battle against cancer”.

The daughter of retired Northern Irish boxer Barry “The Clones Cyclone” McGuigan, Danika was a talented actress and the 33-year-old had successfully clinched TV and theatre roles, most notably as artist Danielle in the popular Irish series 'Can't Cope Won't Cope'.

A statement to Belfast Live, announcing her sad passing read:

“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister, Danika "Nika" McGuigan.

Nika passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday 23rd July, surrounded by her loving family.

As a family we are devastated and ask for complete privacy during this difficult period to allow us to grieve for our Nika.”

The announcement was signed off by “The McGuigan family”, and we can only imagine the pain the family are going through at this time.

Nika was pictured with her family on plenty of occasions and it’s clear they are close-knit.

The actress leaves behind her father Barry, mother Sandra and brothers Shane, Jake and Blane.

She was the couple’s only daughter.
