IRELAND’S schools are among the top in the world a new report claims today.
Irish schools were placed 15th in a global ranking list compiled by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – five places ahead of Britain, which placed 20th.
OECD carried out the research, with particular focus on mathematics and science scores, in 76 countries worldwide.
Singapore topped the list, with the remainder of the top five made up of Asian countries.
The highest placed European country was Finland, in sixth.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Ghana came in last place overall.
